November was so busy

Once a semester, the Ross Spouse Organization puts on a Chili Lunch to raise money for an educating study center called "Calls" that is located in Portsmouth. It's a wonderful program that helps teenagers and young adults with life skills. As you can see in the pictures some of the ladies that attend Calls come out and help the RSO. We raised 2,000EC with the help of the hungry students longing for a home cooked meal. Everyone wins and is happy to have the chili lunch roll back around.

Believe or not we have a KFC. Now i know what you're thinking... "ok so what's the big deal...it's KFC?" Well it is a big deal because we don't have anything here. Well I take that back. We do have a Pizza Hut in Roseau, but thats a roller coaster ride of a drive that is an hour away. So this is me and kyle on a date at KFC indulging on some food and A/C.... "you might be poor and live on a island when you go out to eat to sit in air conditioning."


Thanksgiving went off without a hitch. Me and my friends Emily and Meagan spent the morning at Batibou beach. As we were sitting there on the beach it occurred to us that we are pretty much going old school pilgrim and indian style with Thanksgiving this year. Sitting on the beach like they did back then fresh off the boat, and the hunting and gathering of food is not too far from our scavenger hunt we do for our food here in Dominica. We shared this holiday with great friends that have become like family. You should have seen us all gathered around the table sweaty and hungry.... our eye's where as big as golf balls looking at the spread of wonderful food. I felt like a kid in the movie Hook where they sat there in front of all their imaginary food. I kinda needed Kyle to pinch me to make sure this wasn't a dream. We all ate so much! All the guys were telling us girls that we needed to do this once a week... and we just smiled and looked at each other as we all thought the same thing: "You have no idea how many times i walked back on forth from store to store with my hands full of bags to try and find what I needed to make this possible." But I have to say it was a wonderful dinner. One I will never forget. Everyone was truly thankful. You could see it on all of a faces.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING



My very sweet ladies put together a little spa day for my birthday. They brought some goodies to eat as we all got pedicures. So a big thanks to Meagan, Emily, Anna, Margo, and Mo. Y'all are the greatest!
